Curbside garbage pickup delayed in some areas after worker injured

Some residents in the Parksville Qualicum Beach area may have missed their regular curbside garbage pickup on Tuesday, Dec. 15.

The Regional District of Nanaimo told the PQB News that a worker injury was the cause of the missed collection. The injury occured at the worksite of the RDN’s curbside collection contractor, Waste Connections. The incident resulted in the cancellation of curbside collection service for routes including Morningstar, French Creek, Whiskey Creek, Coombs and sections of the City of Parksville.

According to the RDN, Waste Connections plans to be back on the road Saturday, Dec. 19, to make up for the cancelled collection.

The RDN also said the injured worked is now back at home and they wish him a speedy recovery.
