Work on the Fairwinds Landing site in Nanoose Bay will begin before the end of the month.

Final preparations for excavation on the upper lot of Fairwinds Landing will be starting soon, the developer, Seacliff Properties, announced last week. The lot will be developed into the 39-unit condominium building, The Westerly.

Georgia Desjardins, asset manager with Seacliff Properties, said excavation work on the site will begin within the next week or so and is expected to take approximately four months.

Trees were removed from the area in early September to prepare for the building and excavation processes.

Below The Westerly is the exisiting building, which will have 11 dwelling units and a variety of retail shops and services. The renovation of the existing building is expected to take 12 months. The Westerly is expected to be completed six months after the existing building is finished, with residents moving into the condos in early 2019.

The Fairwinds group, along with RDN staff and Seacliff Properties staff, held the official groundbreaking Oct. 3.

Fairwinds Landing received unanimous support from the RDN board in July for the development permit despite some vocal residents who opposed the development.
