Fire crews called to battle house fire in Parksville

No injuries reported, kitty rescued

For the second time in days, Parksville Fire Department crews were dispatched to a sizable house fire within the city.

Fire crews, the Oceanside RCMP and BC Ambulance Service personnel all attended the scene of a blaze at the end of a cul-de-sac on Foster Place, on Monday, Jan. 18, at approximately 2 p.m.

The fire department responded with three trucks, including a fire engine and aerial truck, and approximately 20 firefighters.

After the initial blaze was extinguished, firefighters cut through the garage door with a chainsaw in order to gain access.

A cat was successfully rescued from the structure as firefighters continued to deter hot spots throughout the still smoking structure.
