Fire firearms stolen during Qualicum Beach break-in

A Qualicum Beach homeowner who was away for two weeks returned Jan. 3 to discover his home had been broken into and robbed

Firearms in a local home proved no deterrent to a break-and-enter during the recent Christmas holiday.

A Qualicum Beach homeowner who was away for two weeks returned Jan. 3 to discover his home had been broken into and robbed, Oceanside RCMP reported this week. Among the items taken were five firearms, including three rifles and a pair of shotguns.

"It is always a concern when firearms are stolen and placed in the hands of criminals," said Cpl. Jesse Foreman, RCMP spokesperson.

Because the homeowner was away for an extended period and learned of the theft only upon returning, the exact time of the crime is unknown, RCMP reported. A police forensic specialist attend the scene and the investigation is ongoing. If you have any information about this crime, please call the Oceanside RCMP at 250-248-6111 or report anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
