Firewood opportunities are revoked, says forest company

Hot summer weather means firewood cutting is at an end

Seasonably warm and sunny weather may be a passport to summer fun, but it’s also bringing the chainsaws of firewood harvesters on Island Timberlands lands to a screeching halt.

The company announced that, effectively immediately all public firewood cutting opportunities have been suspended for the summer season in order to minimize the risk of human-initiated forest fires.

The firewood cutting will be allowed to resume in the fall once cooler, wetter weather returns.
