Four injured in Nanoose Bay crash

Four people were injured when two vehicles collided Saturday morning at the intersection of Highway 19 and the Island Timberlands logging road in Nanoose Bay.

PARKSVILLE - Four people were injured Saturday morning at around 10:40 a.m. when an SUV made a left turn off of Highway 19 at the Island Timberlands logging road in Nanoose Bay, and struck a north-bound pick-up truck.

According to a police report on the incident, the SUV turned into the other vehicle. The resulting crash flipped at least one vehicle, according to witness reports to The News.

RCMP report that there were four people in the pick-up, three of which were airlifted to hospital in Victoria win serious but stable condition. The driver of the SUV was taken to hospital in Nanaimo. Police did not ave information on the condition of all of the injured as of this posting.

The highway was closed for several hours to allow investigators to inspect the scene. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by police.
