Gas prices are on the rise once again the Parksville Qualicum Beach area.

Regular fuel prices in Parksville hover around 215.9 cents per litre, according to GasBuddy.com, a tech company that operates apps and websites based on finding real-time fuel prices.

Chevron (112 Island Highway West) reportedly had a posted regular gas price of 205.9. The Co-op (222 Island Highway East), Chevron (1660 Island Highway East) and Shell (370 Island Highway East) sat at 215.9 cents per litre.

Drivers in the Qualicum Beach area are looking at a similar rate, ranging from Super Save (3377 Island Highway West) where 205.9 is posted, to 216.9 at Petro-Canada (665 Memorial Ave).

The average for the three fuel stations in Errington and Coombs (Co-op, Gas N Go and Petro-Canada) sat at 215.9.

The average price for the Regional District of Nanaimo is 212.2, slightly above the provincial average of 207.8, according to GasBuddy.

Dan McTeague, senior analyst with GasBuddy.com, said depending on the events of the next few months, British Columbians in high price tag areas like Victoria and Metro Vancouver could be paying $2.25 to $2.30 per litre at the pump at some points this summer.

Sanctions against Russian oil, the COVID-19 lockdown in China, and an upcoming increase in vacation travel will all play a part in determining the price, McTeague said.
