It's important on many levels for senior citizens to be able to live independently in their homes for as long as possible and a provincial grant to the City of Parksville may help that happen.
The $19,810 cheque was handed to mayor Chris Burger in a brief ceremony Saturday by Minister of State for Seniors Ralph Sultan.
"This region is heavily populated with happy, healthy retired seniors who want to age gracefully and stay in their mid-Island retirement communities," Sulatan said. "Successful projects like the one in Parksville focus on a wide range of supports to make life easier for the region's older residents." The municipality will use the grant to work on the Oceanside IMPACTS (Improving Partnerships for Age-friendly Care Transitions for Seniors) project.
