One person was sent to hospital following a head-on vehicle collision just southwest of Dashwood on Monday, April 4.
Dashwood Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief Nick Acciavatti said they dispatched a fire engine, rescue truck and 10 firefighters to the 700 block of Corcan Road in rural Qualicum Beach at approximately 5:15 p.m.
“There were two minor injuries. One person was transported (to hospital), and the other was not… They appeared to be non-life threatening at the time of the accident,” he said.

Acciavatti confirmed police and BC Ambulance were on scene as well.
“We had single-lane alternating traffic, and then we shut down the road periodically during the event as well for the ambulance and tow truck,” he said.
Sgt. Shane Worth, operations support NCO for Oceanside RCMP, stated the individuals involved were Nanaimo and Qualicum Beach residents.
“Investigation revealed one of the vehicles slid across the roadway into the path of the other oncoming vehicle,” said Worth. “Police will be serving a ticket under the Motor Vehicle Act to the driver that crossed into the oncoming lane.”
Traffic was delayed for approximately one hour.
