It's now legal to keep bees in Qualicum Beach

Briefs from council Monday night, including Coun. Dave Willie's notice of motion regarding in-camera meetings

Briefly from town council's meeting Monday night in Qualicum Beach:

• The Kiwanis Housing Bylaw in Qualicum Beach was given third reading and adopted Monday night. This will increase the units at the site from 20 to 35 and eliminate the age restriction.

• Third reading passed for the Beekeeping Bylaw and the bylaw was adopted. This will legalize beekeeping within non-agricultural zones.

• Coun. Dave Willie gave a notice of motion that staff be directed to prepare a report on the legislative requirements with regards to the release of in-camera information and specifically on the release of votes on in-camera resolutions

• An update was given on Kwalicum Secondary School's multi purpose room becoming a public use facility. Coun. Bill Luchmeijer said the original proposal had the town involved in building modifications to allow the room to become separated from the building, but plans have changed and there are no longer monetary or labour involvements on behalf of the town.
