Both dog and business licences in the City of Parksville are up for renewal.
Due Jan. 31, 2023, renewals will be mailed to residents and businesses in early December and may be paid at that time, according to a news release by the City of Parksville.
For 2023 business licences, renewals are due Jan. 31, and may be paid via credit card (Visa or Mastercard) through the city’s website under online services and online payments; mail (PO Box 1390, Parksville, V9P 2H3); dropbox at city hall (100 Jensen Ave.); in-person at city hall from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Business licence fees which remain unpaid after Jan. 31, 2023 will be subject to fines.
For 2023 dog licences, fees are also due by Jan. 31. If a resident does not receive a notice in December and currently owns a dog, licences can be purchased in-person from city hall (open Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) or from the BCSPCA (open Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 4 p.m.).

The main benefit of licensing is the quick return of dogs should they become lost. As well, fees collected help to offset the cost to maintain our off-leash dog park, provide bags and dispensers throughout the city and provide bylaw enforcement to handle public safety concerns of stray, off-leash or dangerous dogs.
All dogs over the age of six months must wear a municipal dog tag, which must be renewed yearly.
Rates for tags are as follows:
• By Jan. 31, $20 for spayed or neutered dogs, and $30 for dogs that have not been spayed or neutered.
• After Jan. 31, $25 for spayed or neutered dogs, and $35 for dogs that have not been spayed or neutered.
