Students below Grade 10 in District 69 are unlikely to get report cards this semester unless something changes in the ongoing teacher's strike, or there is a Labour Relations Board ruling and accompanying resources.
Teachers first voted to start 'work-to-rule' type job action March 6 stopping written communication with administrators and extra circular activities.
Since then the LRB has ruled that final exams and report cards are an essential service for grades 10-12, meaning they will receive report cards.
Superintendent Rollie Koop said they are not prepared to make a formal announcement that report cards will not be done for the lower grades — as several districts have — but that as things stand they don't have the necessary information from teachers, or the resources to do report cards.
He left the possibility open if there was a dramatic last minute change in the current situation.
