A search warrant executed at a home in the Qualicum Beach area provided a bountiful harvest for local police last week.
Oceanside RCMP Sergeant Darrell Robertson said the warrant, under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, saw police swoop in on a residence on Nahmint Road, north of Qualicum Beach Thursday.
What they found was an indoor marijuana grow operation that included 286 plants.
Robertson said a 53-year-old male resident of the home was arrested at the scene. A charge of production of a controlled substance is being recommended to Crown counsel.
Robertson noted that properties used for unlawful activities such as this are subject to a variety of proceedings under criminal or civil forfeiture laws. Authorities are able to commence a civil forfeiture action anytime within 10 years of the date of the related unlawful activity.
