Manhunt on for pizza robber

Early Sunday morning sees attack by knife wielding culprit

Police are on the lookout for a knife-wielding robber who hit the Parksville Panago Pizza outlet in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 8.

Oceanside RCMP Sergeant Darrell Robertson reported the robbery took place at about 1:30 a.m. when a man pulled up to the restaurant on a bicyle at as the lone staff member was preparing to close up for the night. He walked inside, pulled out a knife and demanded money.

The employee complied and the man fled the scene on his bicycle up Craig Street with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Robertson said the suspect is described as a Caucasian male, with graying hair and a dirty face, possibly a moustache. At the time of the robbery he wore riding glasses, a green bicycle helmet with a small white label on the front, a long-sleeved dark sweater, light-coloured gloves with a dark palm and he had a black or purple backpack.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident or knowledge of a suspect fitting the description is requested to contact the RCMP at 250-248-6111.

Robertson said the man is considered armed and the public should not approach him.
