Navy League and Sea Cadet members took to the streets last weekend for their annual tag Days fundraising event.

Organizers of the Navy League Branch for Oceanside are hoping a few good men and women will step forward to take positions on their executive before their annual general meeting.

Although parents of cadets and veterans have traditionally taken on the positions on the board, organizers stress that any member of the community who is interested in the Navy League and Sea Cadet program is invited to attend, join the organization and let their name stand for one of the positions on the executive.

The AGM will be held at the Qualicum Beach Curling Rink from 2 to 4 p.m. on June 12.

 • Ferry service between Mill Bay and Brentwood Bay was temporarily halted after the MV Mill Bay was taken out of service and its replacement, the MV Klitsa, continued to undergo an extensive refit.

The Klitsa needs to have its propulsion system replaced, new lifesaving gear and a new sewage holding tank installed. As well, improvements are being made to the ship’s navigation equipment.

Service is expected to resume on Wednesday, June 1.

• The Schooner Cove Yacht Club kicks off its Wednesday night spring racing schedule next Thursday, May 4.
