The Town of Qualicum Beach is restricting fire-related activity in response to current bans imposed by the Coastal Fire Centre.
The current fire bans and restrictions will prohibit Halloween fireworks on public or private lands, the annual Halloween bonfire and fireworks at the Community Park and garden refuse fires.
To keep the Halloween spirit alive Qualicum Beach, fire trucks will be out in local neighbourhoods handing out candy and reminding residents of the ban on fireworks.

Locations for fire trucks on Halloween, Oct. 31:
• 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. – Town hall.
• 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. – Beach Road & Fifth Street, Sumac Drive, Ormonde Road and Chartwell Boulevard.
• 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. – Lower Canyon Crescent, Primrose Street and Saturna Drive, Royal Dornoch Drive & Fairways Drive.
The current Coastal Fire Centre fire ban will not allow fire permits for garden refuse/agricultural clearing fires, usually allowed between Oct. 15 to Nov. 5.
The next opportunity to apply for a garden refuse/agricultural clearing fire permit will be between March 15 to April 5, 2023.
Other options to manage garden refuse before March 2023 include using the RDN transfer station located at 860 Church Rd., or using the town’s curbside chipping program.
