Parksville Coun. Teresa Patterson looks to declare 2022 as ‘Year of the Garden’

Councillor provided a notice of motion during latest council meeting

At the next Parksville city council meeting, on March 7, council members will discuss declaring 2022 as the Year of the Garden within the city.

Coun. Teresa Patterson provided the notice of motion during the Wednesday, Feb. 23, council meeting, and added the motion will provide opportunities for natural growth in the community.

“It’s beneficial to not have mowing occurring prior to May for bees and insects,” she said.

Patterson’s motion will come with an endorsement of ‘no mowing’ during the month May.
