Parksville council considers development variance permit for Hickey Avenue property

Permit consideration sees maximum height of fence increased

The City of Parksville has given public notice that city council intends to consider issuing a development variance permit during the next regular council meeting. The council meeting will be held on Monday, April 11, at 6 p.m. in the Forum at the Parksville Civic and Technology Centre at 100 Jensen Ave.

If approved, the development variance permit will apply to 246 Hickey Ave. [Lot 1, District Lot 14, Nanoose District, Plan 19479], with the general intent to relax the maximum height of a fence.

Specifically, the purpose of the permit application is to vary Section 501.1(a) of “City of Parksville Zoning and Development Bylaw, 1994, No. 2000” by increasing the maximum height of a fence within the front lot line setback area from 1.2 metres to 1.83 metres to facilitate the replacement of an existing fence.

A copy of the introductory report and development variance permit can be viewed; online at the city’s website (https://parksville.civicweb.net/filepro/documents/53412?preview=54274); be email request to planning@parksville.ca; or in-person at the Community Planning and Building Department counter at the Parksville Civic and Technology Centre between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Friday.

The report can be viewed from Tuesday, March 8, until Monday, April 11.

Any person wishing to provide written comments regarding the variance permit application can submit them in writing before 4 p.m. on Monday, April 11. Comments can be submitted: by email to council@parksville.ca; in-person to the City of Parksville’s Community Planning and Building Department; or by mail, addressed to: Council, City of Parkville, PO Box 1390, 100 Jensen Avenue East, Parksville, BC, V9P 2H3.

Comments can also be made in-person during the council meeting.

Due to provincial health orders relating to the COVID-19 pandemic, the total number of persons in attendance at the council meeting may be limited.

Council meetings can also be viewed via livestream from the city’s website.
