Parksville Polar Bear Swin set for Sunday

The annual dip in the ocean starts with registration at 11:30 a.m. on New Year's Day in Parksville Community Park

t denizens will kick off the New Year with a day at the beach — and a plunge into the icy surf — when the 27th annual Polar Bear Splash commences at noon on New Year's Day.

The event, hosted by the Regional District of Nanaimo's recreation department, takes place just below the gazebo at Community Park in Parksville.

Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. under the gazebo, and the event is free for all. Costumes are not only allowed, but encouraged.
