Parksville Qualicum Beach crime report: Thieves make off with statue of St. Francis

Counterfeit bills, car theft also among 259 complaints in one week for Oceanside RCMP

Oceanside RCMP received 259 complaints the week of Nov. 3-9.

Some of the incidents included:

Nov. 3

A resident lost their wallet at a business in the 800 block of Island Highway West, Parksville, and it was later returned intact to the Oceanside RCMP.

A communication box on Allsbrook Road, Parksville, was opened. No damage was apparent.

Nov. 4

A vehicle was reported stolen from a business in the 400 block of Stanford Avenue East, Parksville. Vehicle was recovered in Campbell River by RCMP.

A vehicle was reported rummaged through in the 100 block of Cooper Place, Parksville. There was no damage and nothing reported missing.

A local resident reported a call from someone purporting to be from Service Canada asking for their banking information and social insurance number. This is a scam call as Service Canada would not call for this information.

Nov. 5

Fuel was reported syphoned from a vehicle in the 2600 block of Island Highway West, Parksville.

A 10-inch speaker was found in the 600 block of Foxtail Avenue, Parksville, and turned in the RCMP. If this is yours contact Oceanside RCMP at 250-248-6111 during regular business hours.

A male tried to pass a counterfeit US$100 bill at a business in the 300 block of Island Highway East, Parksville.

A male tried to pass a counterfeit US$100 bill at a business in the 700 block of Memorial Avenue, Qualicum Beach.

Some fishing tackle and compact discs were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle at Cameron Lake.

A B.C. vehicle plate BH760M was reported missing from a vehicle in the 200 block of Garden Road West, Qualicum Beach.

Nov. 6

A red beach fold-up cart values at $90 was reported stolen from a business in the 100 block of Morison Avenue, Parksville.

A one-metre tall bronze coloured statute of St. Francis was reported stolen from a residence in the 1200 block of Prestwick Place, Parksville.

A counterfeit US$100 dollar bill was accepted by a business in the 100 block of Corfield Street North, Parksville.

Nov. 7

A break-and-entre was reported at a business in the 100 block of Alberni Highway, Parksville. A safe, containing cash, was stolen.

A counterfeit CN$50 was accepted by a business in the 300 block of Island Highway West, Parksville.

Nov. 8

An Evinrude 9.9-HP motor, Honda 3000 generator, Brad nailer, Husky chainsaw and a Snap-On tool chest containing tools were reported from a property in the 1200 block of Station Road, Coombs.

A bike trailer with a boat motor attached was found in the ditch on Kincade Road, Qualicum Beach. If it is yours please contact Oceanside RCMP at 250-248-6111 during regular business hours.

Nov. 9

A battery was stolen from a scooter parked outside on a residence in the 400 block of Morison Avenue, Parksville.

A purse was stolen from a business in the 300 block of Island Highway West, Parksville, and a bank card subsequently used to with draw funds
