Parksville woman chases a burglar

The masked intruder was caught on a webcam of this woman’s neighbour in the area of Roberton Boulevard and Arrowsmith Way

There's a man wearing a mask looking to break into homes near Morningstar Golf Course. He might be better off being caught by the police rather than one local woman.

"I was raised in the country," said the woman who did not want her name published. "I'm not a small woman and I'm not afraid to confront him."

The masked intruder was caught on a webcam of this woman’s neighbour in the area of Roberton Boulevard and Arrowsmith Way. She said he appears to be a caucasian male in his 30s who works alone. He has broken car windows to steal the contents within.

On Friday, the brazen criminal set the motion light off at the woman’s house at 3 a.m. She ran after him, despite the fact she was told he may be armed with a knife.

The woman said Sunday she has also been receiving odd phone calls every two hours. She believes the criminal is watching the neighbourhood for an opening, and she’s concerned about the many retired people who live in the area.

Oceanside RCMP were unavailable for comment Monday.
