Host Peter McCully welcomes Parksville Beach Festival Society President Cheryl Dill and entertainment director Lloyd Derry to the podcast.

Dill updated the amount of community donations that were distributed after last year’s Beachfest event.

‘We had great results at the gate. People were very generous. This past year, for the first time, we took donations electronically with the tip tap machine. So, it was a successful year, Peter, and we were able to give back $75,000 to the volunteer groups that staff the gates for us.’

The first annual ‘Rock the Park’ event was held in 2022 in addition to the Tim Horton’s Concert series with about 20,000 people attending concerts throughout the five-week period.

Lloyd Derry says the Summer concert series will be comprised of eight concerts every Friday and Saturday evenings starting July 20, as well as the main event in August.

‘The second annual ‘Rock the Park’ Music Fest from August 11th to 13th, is a tribute to old time rock and roll, classic rock and more. And man, we just have a stellar lineup this year, comprised mostly of world class tribute bands.’
