Organizers are inviting residents to take part in the sixth Global 5G protest and a fourth against a proposed 145-foot cell tower in Qualicum Beach.

The event is set for Saturday, June 19 (1 p.m.) at 2045 W. Island Highway, (triangle) Island Highway/Village Way.

Protest organizer Carol Dowe said parking is available at Christian Fellowship Centre, 825 Village Way, with an easy walk to the site. Parents and children are invited, with a maximum of 50 people (masks required if in small groups; bring a chair).

Guest speakers will be Marcus Schluschen of Canadians for Safe Technology (www.c4st.org), and Dr. Stephen Faulkner of Duncan. The founder of C4ST is Frank Clegg, former president of Microsoft Canada.

“The proposed TELUS cell tower is in the middle of four daycares, two elementary schools and several nursing homes,” said Dowe. “As parents and grandparents we are very concerned. It is imperative that we speak out and demand this tower be stopped.”
