The Qualicum Beach museum is asking members of the public to scour their belongings for artifacts, archival photos or memorabilia relating to the impact created by the arrival of the Qualicum Beach train station.
The historical findings will help the museum further develop its exhibit for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the train station on Aug. 23. The event also marks 30 years for the museum.
There will be a heritage theme at the event and the museum will have a small exhibit set up at the station and a larger one on its grounds across the street.
The museum will focus on the train station's impact on the community; on business and tourism following its arrival. The late daughter of one of the first train masters at the Qualicum Beach station wrote his biography years ago called Life Beside the Tracks, and her son has brought excerpts to the museum for the upcoming exhibition.
The 100th anniversary celebration will take the place of the museum's annual Children's Day in September so it will include kids' activities and old fashioned games.
The event on Aug. 23 will also include interactive train exhibits, fashions of the era and upbeat music.
