Qualicum Beach van blaze quickly extinguished by fire crews

A dramatic vehicle fire in Qualicum Beach last week was quickly extinguished and no injuries were reported.

The Qualicum Beach Fire Department was called at approximately 8 p.m. on July 8 and found a van with its engine and front passenger area ablaze.

“The fire was quickly extinguished while the other apparatus shut down traffic on Rupert Road west and Laburnum Road to make the scene safe for the public and the firefighters,” said Peter Cornell, deputy fire chief. “Fire was contained to the van with no injuries or extension to any of the nearby vegetation.”
