With what he describes as support and encouragement from many in Nanoose, Bob Rogers says he is going to be a candidate in the Nov. 15 election for the Regional District of Nanaimo’s seat on the board of directors from Area E (Nanoose Bay).
Rogers and his wife Susan have been residents of Nanoose Bay for 20 years and they have lived and worked on Vancouver Island for 37 years. Rogers is a retired professional forester, woodlands manager and small business owner. He served three terms as a Cowichan School District Trustee, sat as a member of the Area E Parks and Open Space advisory committee and is currently a member of the RDN grants-in-aid committee.
Rogers was a candidate in the 2011 election for Area E, which is going to have a new director this year after George Holme announced he won’t seek re-election after representing the area for 29 years.
Rogers said he is committed to community building and providing accountable, balanced and energetic representation for Nanoose. He said he will work proactively to enhance and strengthen rural and urban living and working opportunities in Area E.
“I am equally committed to fostering and facilitating regular and open constructive dialogue between the director and the Nanoose electorate that will harness our collective energy,” he said.
