The Parksville office of Courtenay-Alberni MP Gord Johns has been hit by vandals.

On Tuesday morning (Feb. 22), the office in the Parksville Heritage Center along the Island Highway, had several broken windows, with two large holes in the main window and a single shattered hole in the office door.

Broken glass was still visible on the public walkway outside and littered the inside of the office.

In an email to PQB News, a representative of John’s office said they were aware of the situation and are immediately responding to have the damaged repaired.

“My constituency office was vandalized today. This is a completely unacceptable act,” said Johns. “My staff have been working hard to serve our community throughout the pandemic and ensure people have the support they need. They should not be subjected to threatening or violent behaviour at their place of work. I have reported this incident to local authorities. Criminal acts are never appropriate and will not be tolerated.”

Sgt. Shane Worth of the Oceanside RCMP said the incident was reported Tuesday morning, with no signs of entry into the building. Anyone with any information can call police at 250-248-6111.
