Parksville-Qualicum MLA Michelle Stilwell was handcuffed by Oceanside RCMP Staff Sgt. Marc Pelletier on Friday, Aug. 11 in front of her office.

Her offence? Not signing in when arriving to work that morning.

Stilwell was fake arrested as part of a fundraiser for the Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock.

The Jail & Bail event had police “arrest” mid-Island community members and bring them to Woodgrove Centre in Nanaimo where they would be left in “jail” until their “bail” had been made. In Stilwell’s case, she said she hoped to raise $300 for the Tour de Rock.

According to a tweet from Stilwell, she raised $790.
