Qualicum Beach Mayor Tuenis Westbroek is withdrawing his candidacy in the coming municipal election.
Westbroek informed the NEWS on Friday, Sept. 7 of his decision, saying his withdrawal is due to health reasons.
Westbroek has held the position of mayor in Qualicum Beach for 19 years. In July, he had announced his intention to run again ahead of the Oct. 20 election.
