What is Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 580.139, 2023 about and how will this affect me?

If adopted, Bylaw No.580.139, 2023, would change the zoning of the subject property (127 and 141 Fifth Avenue East) from Residential 13 (R13) to Comprehensive Development Zone 21 (CD21). The CD21 zone is a site-specific comprehensive zone, which would permit the property to be subdivided into two parcels, with one building retained on each of the parcels.

All persons who consider their interests to be affected by the proposed bylaw shall be afforded an opportunity to be heard. There are two ways to participate in the Public Hearing.

  1. Attend the Public Hearing in person and speak to the proposed bylaw amendments. The Public Hearing will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 10:00am in Council Chambers, located at 660 Primrose Street, Qualicum Beach, BC V9K 1S7.
  2. Submit written comments. Written submissions may be made to the Town of Qualicum Beach by email at qbtown@qualicumbeach.com or by mail to #201 - 660 Primrose Street, Qualicum Beach, BC V9K 1S7, Attention: Planning, or in person at the same address between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. Written comments must be received prior to the termination of the hearing to be considered by Council. To afford Council an opportunity to review all submissions, individuals are encouraged to submit correspondence prior to 4pm the day before the Public Hearing.

A copy of the proposed bylaw and relevant documents may be inspected on the Town of Qualicum Beach website at www.qualicumbeach.com/publichearing or by appointment at Town Hall located at 660 Primrose Street, Qualicum Beach, BC between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday, except statutory holidays, from Wednesday, November 15, 2023 to Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 10:00 am. This notice is published in accordance with Section 466 of the Local Government Act.
