CSOMOR, Belo

(aka Bacardi Bill)

Born April 5, 1946 in Bratislava, Slovakia, passed away suddenly on Dec. 31, 2009 in Deep River, Ontario.

He is survived by his wife Kendra (nee Colley) his 2 children: Martin and Natalia, and his sister Marika.

In 1968 knowing only 3 words of English, Belo immigrated to Canada where he worked as an electrician for McIsaac Mining and Tunnelling, in Sudbury Ont. In 1970 he moved to Tahsis, B.C. where he later married the love of his life, Kendra. Between working as an electrician - millwright chargehand, running the local theatre, volunteering with the Lions Club and later becoming the town Superintendent, Belo and his family found time to live life to its fullest. He

loved spending time outdoors and they spent many hours out on the ocean fishing in his boat or camping on remote island beaches. In 1985, he took the opportunity to be Parksville Superintendent of Public Works and he and Kendra moved their family where there would be more opportunities for their children. Belo’s career flourished as he oversaw Parksville’s exponential growth until his early retirement in 1996. Not one to slow down, he then started a waterworks business in Parksville. In 2000 he took a 3 year contract as the Town Superintendent of Deep River, ON and within months of his arrival, the Town asked Belo to take a permanent position which he held until his death.

Belo lived life to its fullest and did his best for everyone he met, every day of his life. He took incredible pride in his family and his work and looked for the good in every person and every situation he encountered. Belo treated his friends and staff like family, encouraging everyone to be the best that they could be. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

A celebration of Belo’s life will be held at the Parksville Lions Club at 241 South Moilliet

at 2 pm on January 17th.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society in Belo’s name.
