In loving memory ~

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, Brian Daniel, on February 9, 2024.

Brian will be fondly remembered by his sisters, Barb Foster and family and Shirley Bewick and family, and by many cousins and special friends, Pat Warden, Ali and Dianne Weidlich.

Memories of Brian bring to mind a caring person who was always willing to help.

Brian was a teacher by profession which allowed him his summers to travel ... something he took advantage of, travelling from Alaska to South America, hiking, camping, canoeing, and enjoying the adventure.

Brian's pride and joy were his beloved Samoyeds. You might not have known Brian's name but I'm sure you would have seen him around town, at the coffee shop, QF or the dog park with his beautiful white dogs. Brian saved their fur and had it spun into wool. He loved to give it away to people who knit; nothing warmer than a Samoyed toque! Brian was a frequent visitor at the dog park. Most days you could find him there mornings and afternoons. Anyone with a dog knows what a great community the dog park is ... many friendships are made there - K9 and human. His fluffy friends and their owners will miss him.

Another passion of Brian's was gardening. Every square inch of his yard was designed for growing. Brian had raised vegetable beds, raspberries, apple, pear and fig trees, and even grapes. Brian would start his seedlings every Spring like clockwork. He produced his own seeds too! He was generous with his harvest ... we all sampled his chocolate tomatoes and plump figs. Delicious!

Brian was the poster boy for 'Buying Local' well before it became a catch phrase. He was always a big supporter of local businesses and the people in Qualicum Beach and Parksville.

He even 'bought' a cow at the local cheese works to help them during difficult times. Brian was a big supporter of the SPCA, wherever he could help locally.

Every time we see a Samoyed,

we will think of you my friend.

Rest in Peace.
