CARL GUNNAR LUNDBERG
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carl Gunnar Lundberg, 82,
on Monday, May 4th, after a lengthy and
courageous battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Edith (Northway), his son Daniel, his daughter Linda and her partner Alan, sister June (Richardson) and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Ruth (McBride).
Carl was born on August 12, 1932 in Bella Bella and grew up in Ocean Falls and Vancouver.
His love of the sea was evident as he spent his life as a commercial salmon fisherman, first as a youngster with his father Joseph, then later with his own son Dan. In the early seventies, he earned his Captain’s Ticket. He fished many boats, but the “TRADEWIND” was his pride and joy.
After retiring from fishing, he and Edith moved from Langley to Qualicum Beach, where he enjoyed woodworking and creating oak furniture. He was quite the history buff and loved to read and do crossword puzzles.
He was always up for a good card game, from bridge to poker and most recently his daily crib games with his family.
He looked forward to baseball season and cheering on his favourite team, the Toronto Blue Jays.
No service will be held.
A memorial tea will take place at a later date.
Donations to the Canadian Cancer
Society are appreciated.
