It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine on March 8th,2011.Catherine lived a full life predeceased my her 4 sisters, 2 brothers and her husband Dennis who passed away in 1993. Mum is survived by 2 children, 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Catherine was born in Wapella Saskatchewan moving to Vancouver in her early years where she met and married her husband Dennis. They moved to Tofino and Ucluelet on the west coast where they raised their family and we’re best known for building and managing the Maquinna Hotel. They retired in 1978 moving to Parksville where they enjoyed their retirement gardening, travelling and spending their time with their many friends.
Her final time was spent living with her son and daughter in law in Nanaimo where she received the best of care. She passed away peacefully. Mum was a happy women who loved to laugh she always enjoyed a good joke and she always tried to make those around her happy. I asked mum what she would like people to say about her after she was gone she replied I would like people to say I led an honest spiritual life, yes mum you did lead an honest spiritual life.
We would like to extend our gratitude to the Nanaimo and Parksville home support team, Dr.McLure and the many nurses who helped care for our mother.
A funeral service will be held at the Church of Ascension, 887 Wembley Rd., Parksville on Saturday March 19 @ 10:30am.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Church of Ascension building fund may be made in her memory.
