TASSIE, Clarke Manning

June 8, 1917 — October 10, 2005


On Monday, October 10, 2005, Mr. Clarke Tassie passed away in the West Coast General Hospital, Port Alberni, BC at the age of 88 years.

Predeceased by his wife Lois in 2000 and brothers Albert and Arthur and his dear partner in latter years Bea Buxton Tassie in 2004.

Clarke was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario and he always said he opened his eyes and moved West and happily lived in Port Alberni since the 1940’s.

He was active in the community with his beloved Co-op, Credit Union, was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 169 and

Life Member and Past Exalted Ruler of the BPO Elks. He was a member of the Sunshine Club since 1975, the Flying Club, Model

Airplane Club and a long time member of the Carpenters Union, the I.W.A. and served in many capacities in these organizations.

After returning from Military service abroad during the Second World War, he brought Lois out west and they married in 1945.

Survived by his loving family, daughters Diane Kalin (Mike) and Arlene Cearns (Bob), granddaughters Nadine, Charlene and Katerine, his

sister Margaret Cornell. “Uncle Bob” will be forever remembered by his many nieces and nephews in the Valley and across Canada.


A memorial gathering in celebration of his life will be held between 1:00 and 3:00 pm on Friday, October 14, 2005 at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 169, 4680 Victoria Quay. Cremation will take place and a private family interment will be held in the Greenwood Cemetery, Field of Honor.


In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 169, Poppy Fund in Clarke’s memory.
