In Loving Memory ~

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cliff Green at the age of 85, on Saturday, January 20th, 2024. Cliff passed peacefully surrounded by his family.

Cliff was a dedicated and selfless family man, and he leaves a legacy of a loving and connected family that misses him beyond measure. Cliff enjoyed spending his time dancing, curling, and camping with Kathy, the love of his life. He was always up for a good debate, whether at the Sunday night dinner table or on the many community boards he sat on.

Cliff had a mischievous and playful way about him, a soft, gentle, and sometimes cheeky smile, and always a welcoming and warm presence.

Cliff was born in Manitoba and raised in Errington. Cliff and Kathy married in 1960 and together they raised their two daughters and established a strong sense of community and many lasting friendships in Parksville.

After years as a valued and loyal employee of surveying and construction companies locally and across the island, Cliff became an owner-operator of C&J Green Excavating. He was respected in his field, both for his skill and integrity.

Community service was of great importance to Cliff. For over 30 years, Cliff was a dedicated member of the Parksville Lions Club. He could often be found flipping pancakes and tending bar at multiple community functions and was especially proud of the Lions Playground. Cliff also served on the board of several other community organizations.

Cliff and Kathy shared a wholehearted love that transcended the boundaries of their marriage to include special relationships with each member of their family. They prioritized time with family above all else. Cliff will be remembered and forever missed as a kind and gentle man and for the unconditional love that he gave as husband, dad, grandpa, and great grandpa.

He is survived by his beloved wife Kathy, daughters Michelle (Wayne) Hollman and Karen (Glen) Lawrence, grandchildren Ryan (Jasmine) Hollman, Brittany (Chris) Pond, Marissa Lawrence, Nicholas (Marina) Lawrence and great grandchildren, Hunter and Ronan Hollman and Spencer and Alex Pond.

Also, by sister Enid Lighthart, sister in law Shirley Green, brother Don (Marlene) Green, and brother in law Bill (Evelyn) Smith and many nieces and nephews.

Cliff is predeceased by his parents Walter and Wilma Green, brother Jim Green and brother in law Don Lighthart.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the home care and medical professionals for the respectful and compassionate care that they provided to Cliff.

A small family ceremony will be held in Cliff's honour. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider donating to Nanaimo and District Hospital Foundation - Oceanside Health Centre.
