It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clifford “Mack” McLean Stone on February 15, 2014 in Victoria, BC.

Predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Norah, Mack will be lovingly missed by his children: Paul (Julie), Maureen (Gord) and Megan (Brad); Grandchildren: Christopher (Morgan), Jeremy (Melissa), Ryley, Brynn and Anna; Great Grandchildren: Marcus, Maxwell and Marshall; other dear family, Bill and Mary, Ted, Andrea, Shannon and their families; and many friends.

Mack was born in Vancouver on October 24, 1928 and grew up in Ioco. Returning to Vancouver, he graduated from Lord Byng High School and entered UBC to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Too young to enlist in the armed forces, he joined the Merchant Marines, serving in the Pacific until after WWII.

An accomplished P.Eng his entire career, Mack enjoyed many years with Imperial Oil before embarking into entrepreneurship in the 1970’s back home in BC. Mack and Norah married in 1950 and never looked back. They lived in Ontario during their earlier married years and permanently settled in Parksville, BC in 1971. Mack shared with Norah a love of family, travel, dogs, great friends, interesting books and sports. Family always occupied top spot.

Mack contributed his analytical skills as a school district trustee and member of BC Ferries Board of Directors. Lately he had turned his hand to writing and always had a keen interest in stamp collecting. Dad/Grandpa/Papa/Great-Grandpa/Uncle/Friend will be missed tremendously by us all. “A True Gentleman.”

A memorial will be held at a later date.
