April 17, 1949 - November 13, 2019
David Lawrence Weisner born April 17, 1949 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family November 13, 2019. He is survived by his wife Danelda, the love of his live and his daughters, Karla (Ray Stafford) Calgary, and Karen (Dan Friesen) Camas, Washington, grandchildren Justine and Vera Stafford, Laura and infant grandson Matthew David Friesen, siblings Dennis (Patti), Kitchener and Nancy (Jim) Mclvor, Surrey. David was born in Vancouver and grew up in Surrey. He is predeceased by his parents Leonard and Jean Weisner. In 1970 he married Danelda. They started their married life in Vancouver and then moved and lived in various places in BC.
David was born to drive and spent 30 plus years as a bus driver for Greyhound Lines of Canada. David was admired and respected by colleagues and passengers alike. In 2004, David retired and with Danelda moved to Qualicum Beach. Here they enjoyed their life and began to do more travelling often to new and familiar places. They enjoyed spending time travelling with all their children and grandchildren with Disney Cruising as a favourite. In 2011, David was diagnosed with Cancer. He fought this battle for many years without complaints to the bitter end. Sadly he was taken much too soon.
Services will be held for David on December 28th at 1 pm in Parksville at the Catholic Church of the Ascension, 887 Wembley Rd.
Finally, and most importantly, David was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a doting grandfather. He was a loyal friend, a good neighbour, and a fine principles man. He will be missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank Dr. Susan Hunter, The Palliative Care Nurses and the many Support Workers who came to our home to help Danelda care for David on this journey.
