Dorothy Jean Garton (a.k.a. Grandma G.) passed away on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 12, 2019 at the Eagle Park Health Care Facility in Qualicum Beach. She had celebrated her 103rd birthday on February 23rd.
Predeceased by her husband Jack and infant daughters Jacqueline and Diane, Mom is lovingly remembered by son Gary (Beverley), grandchildren Jeremy (Tina), Colleen and Andrea, and great granddaughter Frances.
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Mom lived a life of service both as a homemaker and a community volunteer. She was an accomplished cook, seamstress, and creator of many beautiful cross stitch, crocheted and knitted items for family and friends.
Mom was a strong woman who stepped to the beat of her own drum. She loved her family and was well known for her determination and wit. She will be greatly missed.
Our family extends our heartfelt appreciation to all her Caregivers for the excellent care and compassionate attention she received during her 10 years at Eagle Park.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in her name to the Eagle Park Health Care Facility at 777 Jones Street, Qualicum Beach, BC V9K 2L1 or to a charity of choice.
