Passed away peacefully in Coombs. Predeceased by his parents Eric and Jean Rumming.
Survived by his loving wife Edith of 69 years, brother Larry (Alfonsa), daughter Arlene (Rick), son John (Dale), grandson Michael (Krista) and great grandchildren Cameron and Claire, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ted was born and raised in Nanaimo. After mechanic training at Nanaimo Vocational Training School, he started his working life as a mechanic in logging camps on the Island, then as a millwright at Harmac Pulp Mill, and finally as a welder fabricator at S. Madill Ltd in Nanaimo until his retirement. Thirty years later he still enjoyed his monthly breakfast meetings with some of the people he worked with at Madill's.
After retiring to Coombs, he loved to create and repair things in his workshop. He had a wonderful ability to visualize and build solutions to mechanical problems and was an excellent woodworker. In later life, he enjoyed researching family history.
Ted always had a big smile and a story to tell. He had a big heart and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He will be missed.
