Born December 7, 1921, the only daughter of Ettie and Ted King, Clare passed away peacefully at Victoria General Hospital on October 28 2012.

The King/Wootton family were early residents of Victoria from 1859. Clare’s father Ted King established the King Brothers Shipping and Customs Brokers in 1911.

Although she lived for 18 years in the Parksville area, Victoria was always Clare’s home. She was a skilled badminton player in her youth and she enjoyed many sports. In addition Clare was an avid reader, bridge player, knitter, and lover of gardening, nature, animals and the beauty of the west coast. She had a long history of volunteering with the Royal Jubilee Hospital Auxiliary and other community organizations. Her wonderful smile, quick wit and loyalty will be sadly missed by family and friends.

No service by request.

Thanks to Amica at Douglas House and Victoria General Hospital for providing supportive care over the past three years.
