Elizabeth Louise (Daoust) Cooney

November 16, 1924 – January 30, 2015

Our mother, who lived a long and glorious life, has decided to spread her wings and go on her own journey with the angels. She left us peacefully, on her own terms, leaving us sad for ourselves, but happy for her.

She had eight children, but she was everyone’s Mom. They felt it and she owned it. To the grandchildren, she was their Bubba, and she was everyone’s Bubba. She was the glue in our family and was the reason, no matter how far flung we were, we would gather for hugging and laughing on a regular basis.

Mom always had hands of steel and a secret glint in her eyes. She was a gifted artist and a whiz at word games and card games, with a poker face that no one could read. Just ask the “Poker Girls”.

Her magic was legendary. You could go to her with a request for any nonmonetary thing you wanted or needed and she would go to work on “creating” whatever that was. You had to be specific, though. If you wanted snow so that you could go sledding, it could possibly snow until you couldn’t get to the hill.

To the staff at Eagle Park, Liz says “Thanks for sharing your hearts with me.”

To Yates Funeral Home, your care and concern for us and the way you eased us along this path we needed to travel is deeply appreciated.

This amazing woman leaves behind her wit, wisdom and warmth as well as her two sisters in Ontario, her kids, her kids’ kids and her kids’ kids’ kids and also the many, many honorary kids she collected over the years. She loved us all so much and was deeply loved and respected in return.

You left us so much, you’ll be with us always.
