March 9, 1917 – June 5, 2012

We are sad to say goodbye to our loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother who fought adversity and stayed with us to pass away quietly at the grand age of 95.

Elsie was born in England and immigrated to Canada with her husband Fred and young family to settle in Calgary, AB where she raised her two daughters. She volunteered with CNIB learning and teaching Braille, and indulging her daughters’ passion for horses, spending many hours as chauffeur, fan, and general supporter. Upon Fred’s retirement in 1975 they moved to Qualicum Beach where they spend their last years close to the ocean the both loved.

Elsie was predeceased by her son Peter, her loving husband of 61 years, Fred, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Gillian Orr of Okotoks, Christine Ross (Doug), of Qualicum Beach; grandchildren Pamela Yerxa (Jesse) of Okotoks, Simon Lerner, Claire Sauter (Dustin) and Ruth Thomson (Ryan) all of Calgary; great-grandchildren Jordan Wilson and Sierra Yerxa of Okotoks; and Merrick Thomson of Calgary; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

The family is going to hold a

family memorial in Calgary.

“Grandma,” as she was known to us all, will be sadly missed.
