Florence Greig (nee Asson)

July 26, 2018

November 26, 1921 - July 26, 2018
"They are not long, the weeping and the laughter, love and desire and hate: I think they have no portion in us after we pass the gate.

They are not long, the days of wine and roses: Out of a misty dream our path emerges for a while, then closes within a dream" - Ernest Dowson

Florence was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, but moved to Vancouver in 1928 with her parents and two sisters, Betty and Ruth. Because all her schooling and most of her 45 years in business took place in Vancouver she considered it her "home town".

She spent 30 years in the advertising business, in Vancouver, before moving to Qualicum Beach in 1973 with husband Doug, to start a career in real estate. When she retired in November 1985, she was co-owner of Century 21 Qualicum Realty and a fellow of the Real Estate Institute of Canada.

She was pre-deceased by her husband Doug in 1977 and her sister Betty McKim of Parksville in 2016. She leaves to remember her, her sister Ruth Fortune of Hornby Island, her nephews and nieces: Donna Townsend (Bill) of Florida, Richard McKim (Ellen) of New York, David McKim (Lori) of Uxbridge, Ontario, Mark Fortune (Abigail) of Ucluelet, Elisa Fortune (Roy) of Hornby Island and her step daughter Marsha Gantner of Qualicum Beach.
