Gerald Taylor
November 4, 1935 – October 8, 2015
With great sadness we announce the passing of Gerald on Thursday, October 8th, 2015. He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife of 58 years, Shelia; son, Mark (Teri) Taylor of Nanaimo, BC; daughter, Amanda Taylor of Victoria, BC; grandchildren, Jordon (Samar) Demontiney, Rebecca Demontiney, Alicia Taylor, and Nicholas Taylor. Gerry was predeceased his brothers, Frank, Cyril, and Jack; and sister, Irene.
Gerry was a man of many talents and interests. He started his working career as a Merchant Marine. His varied interests found him moving on to become an autobody repairman, the Service Manager of a car dealership, a commercial Greenhouse Grower, finally settling in as a Caretaker of a privately owned island off the coast of Victoria.
An avid member of the Knights of Columbus, Gerry was always the first to volunteer for a job. He enjoyed working with his hands and was a master at teasing the best out of a piece of wood. Gerry made most of the furniture in his home and friends and family members considered themselves lucky to be gifted one of his creations.
A Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, October 17th at the Church of the Ascension in Parksville.
In lieu of flowers, please consider honouring Gerry’s memory by making a donation in his name to the charity of your choice.
