Gloria Jean Trembath (nee Bishop)

February 26, 2011

May 27, 1927 - February 26, 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gloria Trembath at Qualicum Manor in Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island on February 26, 2011 at the age of 83. She was predeceased by her beloved husband William James (Bill) in 1989 and her eldest son William Donald in 2008. She will be dearly missed by her sons Christopher (Sharon) and Toby (Alison) and her daughter Catherine (Doug). She will be sorely missed and remembered by her grandchildren Elizabeth, Rebecca, Vincent, Brian, Charlotte and Sarah and Amelia.

Gloria was born in Vancouver and spent her early years in Saskatchewan before the family moved to New Westminster in the 1930s. In 1954 she married William (Bill) Trembath. Together they had four children and lived in Venezuela, Iran and Africa before settling down in 1980 on Erwin Drive in West Vancouver. This is where she had her most pleasant and enduring memories, until the passing of her husband Bill.

Gloria stayed in the family home until 2009, when she relocated to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Special thanks to the staff at Nanaimo Regional Hospital and Qualicum Manor for the exceptional level of care and compassion given to her in her final weeks with us.

Gloria will be remembered for her keen sense of humour. She had strong sense of direction doing things in her own time and her own way and was devoted to her family. She will not be forgotten and will live on in those she has left behind.

In lieu of flowers a donation to the Vancouver Children’s Hospital or Easter Seals Camps would be appreciated. Arrangements in care of Yates Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held in West Vancouver on Sat. April 15, 2011. Time and location to be announced.
