HELEN KREACUL

July 19, 1933 – June 23, 2015

Helen’s journey of life ended on a beautiful sunny day. She tackled her cancer with all her strength and kept a positive attitude until the end.

Helen is survived by her husband Bill of 56 years. Her siblings, Kay, Andrew (Irene), Eugene (Grace), Walter (Oli), sister-in-law Joyce and 19 nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Philip & Mary Zapisocki & brother Orest.

Helen was born in Spedden, Alberta. She married William (Bill) Kreacul in 1959 and resided in Edmonton. Helen and Bill moved to Parksville, BC in 1969 where she worked for the RCMP as office manager for 20 years, retiring in 1993.

Retirement brought more joy to her life, which included spending winters in Yuma, Arizona. They sold their home in Parksville and lived full time in their new 5th wheel for several years making their summer residence in an RV park near Cassidy. Due to health issues, Helen and Bill returned to Parksville in 2005 where they settled into a new home.

Helen loved family and friends. She was very proud of her Ukrainian origin and took great pride in preparing ethnic meals. Ukrainian Xmas was a special event and it was an honor to be on her guest list.

Helen was a devoted volunteer with the Parksville/Qualicum Cancer Society, Society of Organized Services and Federal Superannuates National Association.

Helen’s life ended as she lived it, with grace and dignity. She was a true friend and was loved by those who knew her.

A celebration of life will be held for Helen along with her husband Bill at Yates Funeral Service in Parksville, BC
