It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of our beloved mother and wife. Predeceased by her husband Ian Charles Shaw in 1990. She leaves behind sons Colin of Parksville, Neil (Carolyn) of Calgary and daughter Hilary (Dan) of Nanaimo along with granddaughters Kristie and Sarah. Helen also has a much loved extended family throughout the U.K.
Helen was born in Scotland and in her early marriage set off to Nigeria where she worked for the British Embassy. The next destination was Lima, Peru where she assumed many administrative jobs while raising a family. She immigrated to Canada in 1966 where the family settled in Calgary.
Helen continued working while raising the family and had numerous executive jobs including being a personal secretary to a German Baron.
Helen was, and will always be, much loved and missed by everyone who knew her.
There will be a small commemoration to be held at Yates Memorial Services at 1000 Allsbrook Rd in Parkville on October 24 at 11:00 AM
