SMITH, Hilda Anne Eccles Age 82. Surrounded by her family,
passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2002.She was born in Darwen England on March 27, 1920, completed nursing school June 1943, married in England during the war and came to Canada in 1946. She loved art, music, literature and enjoyed writing, having many of her articles published. Survived by her husband of 59 years Brigadier General Paul Dorian Smith, daughter Helen Saum of Sykesville, Maryland, son Paul Smith of Nanaimo, daughter Jane Sorensen of Comox, B.C., 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and two brothers, Raymond Eccles of Kenley, England and Jim Eccles of Leyland England. Services were held at St. Anne’s Anglican Church Friday, August 23, 2002, at 1:00 p.m. Reception followed at the Bayside Inn.
