November 6, 1927 – July 9, 2012
Passed away after a long struggle with poor health. She was a devoted wife of Abe for 65 years, mother to Joan (Richard Hicks) and Cliff (Susan), grandmother of four, and great-grandmother of eleven children. All survive her.
Hilda is predeceased by her parents, brother Peter and sisters Aliena, Velma and Mary. She is survived by her sister Betty and brother Rudy. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her.
She was a gifted hostess and loved knitting and sewing. We all have a quilt that she made especially for us, to remember her by.
Hilda was a woman of deep faith – at the end, she said her greatest joy in life was, knowing that all her children and grandchildren loved the Lord and she would spend eternity with them. She cared deeply for her family and friends, always treating others with kindness and respect. She inspired others as she faced life’s challenges with courage, strength and integrity. Hilda made many friends in her lifetime and shared many wonderful times with those close to her.
She was a member of the congregation at the Parksville Baptist Church. Her ardent and unwavering faith brought comfort to her throughout her lengthy illness, as did the support and prayers of her friends and family.
